This week Year 3 took part in the Richmond Safe Walking training scheme. After putting on florescent yellow jackets the girls went off in teams of three with an instructor to train them. The road side training encouraged them to think about the dangers of traffic and to understand the potential hazards.
The girls learnt to plan safe routes that make use of crossing facilities. This free training is part of a long term strategy preparing children for future independent travelling as well as promoting the benefits of walking as a sustainable means of transport.
