Carnegie Medal for Children’s Literature Competition
June 25th, 2009
The Library celebrated the announcement of the winner of the prestigious Carnegie Medal for children’s literature on 25th June.
The winner was Siobhan Dowd with her book “Bog Child”, published by David Flicking last year.
St. Catherine’s School was one of nearly 3,500 groups across the country and overseas who registered to take part in the “Shadowing the judges” scheme of the award.
The scheme involved reading and reviewing the seven short listed books and attending lively lunchtime book discussions.
A wide range of St. Catherine’s girls from years 7 to 10 joined the scheme and had fun voting for the St. Catherine’s winner!
Mrs. Bloomfield said: “The girls enjoyed reading and reviewing the books”
