Trip to Iceland

Trip to Iceland

Twenty students from Years 9 to 11 got to experience the wonders of Iceland at the start of the Summer holidays.

The four day expedition involved bathing in the Blue Lagoon which is an outdoor pool heated by geothermal energy and featuring mineral rich clay that is said to be good for the skin. The girls saw a number of truly spectacular waterfalls along with the eruptions of water at the Geyser Geothermal Site. They stopped off to look at a glacier and some of the volcanic black sand beaches. The only disappointment was the whale watching when high winds made for an uncomfortable journey and few whales.

The weather was amazingly good with non-stop sunshine day and night, indeed we went to the beach at around 9pm under a blazing sun! I am sure that Iceland’s economy will soon be on the mend considering the vast number of purchases the girls made, ranging from ice cream, sweets, clothes to an interesting array of head gear. I would like to thank Mrs Saddler for her efforts in making the trip a smooth running and enjoyable experience.
