GCSE Geography Field Trip
March 27th, 2009
Year 10 Geographers spent the weekend at the seaside town of Swanage, Dorset.
The aim of the trip was to improve their knowledge of coastal processes and landforms and to teach valuable data collection techniques. The girls worked hard aided by some unexpectedly good weather. Highlights included the ‘Blind Drop’ which was a night time navigation exercise, with many girls commenting on brightness of the stars, I believe several took a moment to reflect on the majesty of the heavens.
The students also enjoyed their visit to some stunning coastline such as at Durdle Door where they witnessed a ‘daredevil’ climb his way to the top of the arch. They concluded by visiting Lulworth Cove which involved research into tourist management and the consumption of vast quantities of Dorset’s best fudge!
