This course is only available in Year 13

AS Level Course content:

You will study the compulsory FP1 pure mathematics unit plus two further units.*

The FP1 pure mathematics unit extends you're a level knowledge and introduces topics such as complex number theory, matrices and proof.

A2 Level Course content:

You will study the compulsory FP2 pure mathematics unit plus two further units.*

The FP2 further maths unit will extend you knowledge of calculus, complex numbers and vectors.

  • These units are chosen to best suit the needs of the students.

Relevance to further studies and careers:

Further Mathematics is not an essential requirement to study Mathematics at university but it would be extremely useful and we recommend that students who want to study for a degree in Mathematics should be doing Further Mathematics. Anyone who is considering a degree in a mathematically related subject such as Physics, Engineering etc would also benefit from studying Further Maths.
