Summer Concert

An enjoyable evening was had by all at the Summer Concert 2009. Despite the heat (most programmes doubled up as fans!) the girls performed brilliantly. The St Catherine’s Singers made their debut and gave an impressive and mature rendition of ‘Steal Away’ and ‘Ghana Alleluia’.
The Year 8 Stomp composition was excellent and we are grateful to Mrs Saddler for the guest appearance of ‘the saucepan’ which featured in much in the piece! The singing from all Choirs was superb and the enthusiasm and commitment of the girls was very evident. The Orchestra really enjoyed playing ‘The Pirates of the Caribbean’ but much to our disappointment Johnny Depp didn’t make an appearance!
The staff showed themselves up again with their Abba medley; they are irrepressible! The evening finished with a very moving rendition of ‘Les Miserables’ by the joint Choirs. I would like to thank all the girls, the singers and instrumentalists for their hard work, sharing their talents with us and for making the evening a success. I look forward to seeing them in rehearsals and working together for the upcoming Autumn concert.
