The Feast of St Catherine
April 29th, 2009
The Feast of St Catherine, the School’s Patron Saint, was celebrated on Wednesday 29th April and the School was delighted that Father Ulick, parishioners and parents were able to join us for this celebration.
St Catherine of Siena was a female ahead of her time, who was fearless when tackling issues she felt strongly about. Father Ulick’s homily reminded pupils of St Catherine’s legacy and told them not to be afraid to stand up for their beliefs. Parishioners then joined staff for refreshments whilst all pupils gratefully received a Crunchie to help commemorate the occasion!
Today St Catherine offers each of us a challenge, the same challenge which, six hundred years ago, she offered Stefano Maconi, one of her followers: “If you really are what you are supposed to be, you will set fire to all Italy”.
