Visit to America
January 16th, 2009
On the early morning of 16 December a group of 26 girls from Years 7 to10 ventured to America where we would all take part in a skiing course. When we arrived at Boston airport we made our way to the Cambridge shopping mall, the icy wind hit us all as we all ran quickly to the coach. We were all impressed by the shopping and managed to find presents for all of our loved ones back in England. We jumped onto the coach for a reasonably short journey to the Grand Summit hotel where we would be staying for the next week.
We all wrapped up warm for our first day of skiing when we were allocated both groups and instructors. Every morning there was a fresh sheet of glistening white snow for us to glide across on our skis. In the evenings we had different activities planned, there was a heated outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi which was really nice and relaxing after a day of hard skiing, we also went to the cinema to watch Avatar which was very interesting.
On our last night we had a games evening in which we were split into teams and set four challenges; speed, flexibility, co-ordination and respiration. It was great fun and brought back a lot of funny memories, including Jemma Quinn (9S) running over Miss Breach and also that night we all got to see Miss Breach falling through a chair as she went to sit down, one memory I am sure we will all never forget! It was really nice to get to know people from all year groups and get to know the teachers more as people rather than adults who teach us. I am sure we all had an amazing time, I know I did! Sophie Rawlins (9S)
