The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health has a major role in postgraduate medical education and professional standards: setting syllabuses for postgraduate training in paediatrics, overseeing the training, running examinations, organising courses and issuing guidance and carrying out research.

The Princess Royal, who is Patron of the RCPCH, joined an invited audience at an international seminar to mark the opening.  Topics spanned important work in child health in East and West Africa and the significant work and training currently being carried out in child health in the Middle East and India.

Dr Patricia Hamilton, President of the RCPCH invited Her Royal Highness to unveil a plaque to commemorate the official opening of the building and to sign the Visitors’ book. The Princess Royal was presented with her flowers, and met and chatted with Georgia, with paediatricians, staff from all departments and the Mayor of Camden.
