The Siena Society kicked off this term with a talk from David Coles on the 2nd November. David is a volunteer with the charity Remap.

Remap seek to make it easier for disabled people to lead everyday lives. They do this by inviting volunteers to invent devices to help their clients to undertake tasks from everyday household chores to high-level sport.

David showed us an ingenious device fashioned from two clothes pegs joined together which helps people who only have the use of one arm to be able to hang their clothes onto a washing line. The talk really made us think about how much we take our own abilities for granted, and how important it is to give back to others using our own skills.
