The first week of half term saw a large group of St Catherine’s pupils gathering at Paddington Station, ready to head off to Cornwall for our Activities Week at the Manor House in St Issey. The journey was memorable for the dramatic red tinged sky we saw from the train – Saharan dust being pulled along by Storm Brian. After four hours, we were certainly ready for a truly bracing walk along the coast near Trevone beach to watch some spectacular waves!

After the storm had passed, we had two glorious days to enjoy Body Boarding, Coastal Walking, Rock Climbing and a visit to St Ives to shop for souvenirs before the weather let us down again. Heavy rain and strong winds meant we could not do any Kayakking this year, but we went to explore the Eden Project instead.

Evening activities involved toasting marshmallows on the beach and watching shooting stars in the night sky as well as a private tour of an aquarium and learning about some amazing sea life. Our final day was spent on the Camel Trail, cycling from Wadebridge into Padstow to sample the local pasties and trying our hand at catching a crab or two in the harbour. Thanks to Ms Goldburn and Ms Oakley for their invaluable assistance throughout the week.
