On Thursday 26th April, Andrew Hanson from the National Physical Laboratory came to deliver a fabulous Liquid Nitrogen Show. This Show brought science to life. The girls learned about the hottest and coldest temperatures – did you know that the core of the earth is hotter than the surface of the sun?
As well as learning though, the show was all about FUN! Andrew let everyone feel what liquid nitrogen felt like, and showed how it poured over his hand without leaving wetness. He demonstrated the freezing qualities of liquid nitrogen, and played the part of an evil scientist smashing a flower. He also showed how balloons shrivelled when put into liquid nitrogen, and how they then filled up when they were warmed up. Overall, it was a wonderfully interactive demonstration.
Thank you, Andrew!
