Since the last newsletter, we have had two very interesting Siena Society talks. Firstly, our very own Sr Paula gave a talk about being a nun in the modern day. She explained how life as a sister has changed through the years, from a lifestyle of strict rules to one where people are trusted to make their own decisions. The girls were fascinated to see pictures of the old-fashioned habits, and to learn that modern sisters can keep their birth names, unlike the sisters of the past who were renamed when they joined the convent. The special highlight was seeing pictures of Molly as a puppy!
Our second talk was given by the National Citizen Service, who spoke on the subject of job applications and CVs. This was a very useful talk, as the girls will need to be able to produce these documents, whether they are applying for a summer job or work experience. The girls were given copies of good and bad CVs, and were able to discuss how to avoid common mistakes when trying to make a good impression.
