Careers education is vitally important, and the groundwork of success needs to be set while the girls are young. Therefore, we were pleased to welcome Young Enterprise to school last Friday to deliver an off-timetable day for our Year 10 girls. The girls had fun, but learned at the same time. They were asked to consider the sort of lifestyle they wanted to have. They then had to work out a budget for the lifestyle they wanted to achieve, and to see what sort of career would give them the income to achieve their dreams.
They also learned that they do not receive all of the advertised salary for a job due to tax deductions – always an eye-opener! The girls are encouraged to dream big, but to also have a realistic plan for getting where they want to be.
