This course will appeal to students who loved the GCSE. Fine Art Course and want to take their work onto the next level. They will be students who are imaginative and creative with a desire to work independently. They are
often students who want to work with creative problem solving and be confident to take their work on a personal journey.

The GCE in Fine Art is designed to encourage an adventurous and enquiring approach to Art. The new specification enables the students to develop their work over two years. The students will develop their work throughout the course from a starting point of their choice, alongside a contextual study which they write in their second year based on research of artists and their own investigation.

Students can apply for an Art Foundation year or apply to the Universities direct. There are many Art and Design degree options available including Fine Art Degrees.

“It is a widely accepted notion among painters that it does not matter what one paints as long as it is well painted. This is the essence of academicism. There is no such thing as good painting about nothing”
Mark Rothko
