Teacher of Economics

Job Description

St Catherine’s has a lively and ambitious Sixth Form and a very friendly and collegial school culture. We seek a well-qualified, enthusiastic and highly-motivated teacher to teach Economics to pupils preparing for A Level. S/he will be able to demonstrate excellent planning, teaching, assessment skills and administration, have high expectations, excellent classroom management, strong pastoral skills and the ability to motivate, encourage and inspire pupils.

Economics is a popular subject at A Level and pupils enjoy related co-curricular discussions and activities which help to ensure their progress and enjoyment. This position includes an allowance for subject leadership, and the teacher appointed will work closely with the Head of Sixth Form and other subject leaders to ensure best practice and effective curriculum delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly trained Economics teacher, or for a person seeking leadership and additional leadership training and opportunities available.

We would welcome applications from teachers who are also able to teach an additional subject (e.g. Politics or Maths) and/or from applicants interested in a larger role, who have other skills to offer.

All members of staff at St Catherine’s are expected to be fully supportive of the aims and ethos of a Catholic school and to share pastoral responsibility. The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to a number of safer recruitment checks including Enhanced DBS, Barred List and online/social media checks as part of Keeping Children Safe in Education, and once in post, receive further training and updates.

If you feel you have the experience, enthusiasm and commitment necessary for this post, then we would be delighted to receive an application from you. Please note that only applications on the School’s application form will be considered. It is not necessary to send a separate CV nor to complete an application in the TES format.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received so early application is recommended and the school reserves the right to begin the recruitment process prior to the closing date.

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 24 January 2024, 9am.
First interviews will be held from Monday 29 January 2024.

Please return your application via email to recruitment@stcatherineschool.co.uk
