St Catherine’s is pleased to introduce its Governors, whose voluntary support of the School is very much appreciated. The Governors assist the Headmistress and Senior Team in school leadership and governance, and visit the School regularly to enjoy events, and to meet staff, pupils and parents.
Governors
Sylvia Hamilton (CHAIR)
Sylvia Hamilton is a senior commercial HR generalist professional with diverse sector experience, including professional service practices, telecoms and property. She has worked with international workforces located in Asia, America, Canada, Central Europe and Scandinavia.
Sylvia has sales and marketing experience which combined with board level influencing and relationship skills also make her suitable for business development projects.
Sylvia read Modern history at Durham University, is a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and holds a post-graduate diploma in Marketing.
Elizabeth Morris
Elizabeth Morris worked for fifteen years as a lawyer in dispute resolution for a major City solicitors practice. She is now a full-time mother with a passion for education and is keen to do what she can to support St Catherine’s.
Michael Edwards
Michael Edwards is a former partner in a City Law Firm having retired after 26 years. He worked with a real estate group in London that specialised in commercial investment, developments and joint ventures. He has extensive experience in the management and development of young lawyers. He is also involved on a voluntary basis in mentoring teenagers and providing advice to young entrepreneurs.
James Richards
James Richards is a former pupil of The John Lyon School in Harrow, and graduated with Honours from the University College of London with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Since graduating, James has spent the last 20 years working in high risk industries, both in the public and private sector, specialising in the Health, Safety and Environment, and is a Chartered member in this field.
James recently returned from Australia after almost 9 years, along with his wife and two year old son. When he isn’t working, he enjoys long walks, running, football and playing music.
Daniel Coughlan
Daniel Coughlan is the Deputy Head Academic at Worth School, in Sussex. He has previously worked at Magdalen College School, Oxford, North London Collegiate School, London, Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge, Mayfield School in East Sussex; and St Mary’s Ascot.
After an undergraduate degree in Divinity at Trinity College, Cambridge, Daniel completed his Masters in Ecclesiastical History at St Benet’s Hall, Oxford. He then studied for the priesthood before returning to Trinity to do a PhD in the Second Vatican Council and the English Catholic Church. He is married with five young boys, and resides in West Sussex.
Mr Alberto Esguevillas Lete
Alberto Esguevillas Lete has more than 20 years’ experience within the real estate industry, working both in asset, development and investment management, and holds an MBA from London Business School and a masters degree in industrial engineering from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas in Madrid. Before joining Eurofund as CEO of the UK business, Alberto headed up Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s Italian business as country manager, and previously led Westfield’s development projects in London and Stratford with responsibility also for new business across Europe. Prior to joining Westfield in 2014, Alberto led Internos’ Global Investors pan European platform leading the retail teams and the Iberian offices.
Alberto has lived in London since 2004 and has a strong interest in education, having previously been a governor of Richmond Adult Community College.
Roisin Toner
Roisin joined the Board in 2024. Roisin is the Senior Deputy Head at St Mary’s Ascot, a leading Roman Catholic boarding school for girls aged between 11 and 18 years. Roisin joined St Mary’s Ascot in 2002 as Teacher of Religious Studies, followed by Head of Religious Studies and then Head of House before becoming Senior Deputy Head in 2023. She holds a BA (Hons) in Theology and Religious Studies from Christ College Cambridge and an MA in Philosophy and Religion from the University of London. Roisin completed a PGCE at St Mary’s University in Twickenham. Roisin is currently an inspector for Catholic schools.
Victoria Mast
Victoria joined the Board of Governors in 2024 and serves as Chair of the Safeguarding Committee. Victoria is currently the Deputy Head Operations & Co-Curricular at Marymount International School, a distinguished Catholic, all-girls day and boarding school in London. Prior to this, she taught at several respected schools, including St. Mary’s Ascot, Gresham’s School, and the International School of Milan.
She holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature from Durham University and completed a PGCE at the University of Buckingham, further strengthening her foundation in teaching and educational practice.
Helen Campbell
Helen Campbell is the Chair of the Finance, Premises and General Purposes Committee. Helen is a Chartered Accountant and the Chief Financial Officer of the English National Opera. Prior to this Helen served as the Head of Financial Accounting at Save the Children International. Helen also had substantial experience at Thomson Reuters, and trained at Kingston Smith.
Helen Campbell obtained a BA(Hons) Economics & Politics from the University of York and has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) since 1992.
Helen is also a Trustee of Unique, a charity dedicated to understanding rare chromosome and gene disorders and has previously served as their Chair of Trustees.
Previous to joining St Catherine’s , Helen served as a governor at a grant-maintained primary school , and on the Academy local board for a special needs secondary school.
