Drama is taught as a specialist subject from Year 7 upwards, with opportunities to continue studying at GCSE and A level. The girls cover a wide range of skills, from both scripted and devised pieces, to physical theatre and practitioners. In Drama, we use a wide range of different techniques to ensure that all girls develop their creativity, emotional depth, ability to work in groups, and their self-confidence.
The school production was Sister Act, and was performed in March 2018. The next production will be announced in the Autumn Term!
The drama department organises many trips to see theatre productions, in as many different styles as we can. Recently we have seen the following plays; Relatively Speaking by Alan Ayckbourn at Richmond Theatre – Blue Heart by Caryl Churchill at Orange Tree Theatre – Blood Brothers by Willy Russell at the New Victoria Theatre, Woking.
Due to popular demand, Drama Club runs after school on both Wednesday and Thursday. This is an opportunity for pupils to extend their range, mix with students from other forms and year groups, and partake in activities which are not on the curriculum.
