Sixth Form at St Catherine’s has its own identity. Small classes, close relationships with teachers and greater independence create an environment where girls are known well, encouraged to think for themselves and supported to aim high.
For girls already at St Catherine’s, Sixth Form brings new freedoms, new responsibilities and a different rhythm to school life. For those joining us at 16+, it is a natural point to start somewhere new, with new subjects, new classes and plenty of opportunity to become part of the community from the outset.

A Level choices
Sixth Form is the chance to focus on the subjects you enjoy most and want to take further.
St Catherine’s offers a broad range of A Levels, with individual guidance to help girls choose the combination that is right for them. Small classes create space for discussion, questions and independent thinking, while the Extended Project Qualification offers the opportunity to explore an area of particular interest in greater depth.
Joining us at 16+
Choosing where to spend your Sixth Form years is a big decision, particularly if it means joining a new school.
At St Catherine’s, Sixth Form is a fresh stage for everyone. Subjects change, classes are reshaped and girls take on greater independence. New pupils join at a time when the whole year group is moving forward, making it a natural point to form new friendships and find your place.
Our smaller size means girls quickly get to know their teachers and one another, while still having the freedom and opportunities they expect from Sixth Form.
Entry requirements
External applicants would normally be expected to achieve six GCSEs at grades 6–9, including grade 7 in the subjects they wish to study at A Level.
We are also interested in the individual behind the grades and are happy to discuss circumstances where a pupil shows strong potential and commitment.
Current St Catherine’s Year 11 pupils have an automatic place in the Sixth Form and do not need to reapply.
Sixth Form scholarships are available in Academic, Art, Drama, Music and Sport.
