On Friday 27th January, Anthony Kennedy came to St Catherine's to give a Siena Society lecture. Anthony is a lecturer in Roman Law at the University of Oxford, where he is involved in the student admissions process, and he gave a very inspiring talk on the subject of applying to the top universities. During this talk, he impressed upon the girls how important it is to choose a course wisely. He suggested that students choose a course based on their passion for their subject, rather than necessarily having the end goal of a particular career in mind. He explained that admissions tutors are looking for evidence of a real passion to read that particular subject, and that this should shine through the personal statement and interview process. Anthony was a witty and engaging speaker and the audience, made up of girls in Years 11 and 12, found the lecture to be both inspiring and informative.
