The first part of our Ceramics Workshop on 21 May 2019 was an extremely fun and exciting experience. We certainly learnt a lot and could not wait to begin. We were shown lots of different techniques and used clay, and a variety of tools, to model and sculpt creatures from the Galapagos Islands; fish, iguanas and tortoises.
We were taught how to create hollow forms to ensure our creatures do not explode when they are fired! We used a tool called a ‘kidney’ to smooth the clay and a range of other tools to create different interesting textures on our creatures. Our sculptures have now been taken off to be fired and we cannot wait to paint and glaze them soon!
