World Book Day

It was the official World Book Day last Thursday. However celebrated the joys of reading all week with staff readings, our ‘secret reader’ competition, and a host of guest speakers!

Bali Rai, prize-winning author of (Un)arranged Marriage, Rani and Sukh and Mohinder’s War (among many others), talked to Year 10. Bali’s fascinating talks looked at multi-culturalism, identity, empathy and the importance of reading.

Beverley Naidoo talked to Year 7 and 8 on Wednesday. Beverley had our girls enthralled with her tales of South Africa under apartheid, and the courage shown by those who opposed apartheid and other forms of oppression.

Jasbinder Bilan, prize-winning author of the beautiful books Asha and the Spirit Bird, and Tamarind and the Star of Ishta, talked to Year 5, 6, and 7 last Friday for world book week!

Please join us in prayer for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis. May he rest in peace.
